Side Kicks is the place to bring your child when you want them to benefit from all karate has to offer. My children have grown so much in 9 months from the life skills and physical skills they’ve learned with Sensei Brian and Senpai Joyce. The adult kickboxing class is a great workout, too. I’m glad we have the family membership.

I didn’t know what to do to help my daughter deal with bullying in school. I had heard karate helped build self esteem as well as self defense. Side Kicks has done this and so very much more! My daughter did not want to try karate for fear of failing at it. I made her try it, and by the third class She loves it!! The staff at Side Kicks are amazing!! They teach so much more than karate. Three years of therapy and we saw no changes in my daughter, three classes at Side Kicks and She has more confidence, more respectful, is making new friends and is a all around happier kid! I can’t thank the staff at Side Kicks enough for all they do for our kids and our community! ❤️

Both of our kids have been going to Sidekicks for several weeks and we have noticed a difference in both of them. They are more confident, they are excited about going to karate and get along better! We have really good family conversations about what they learn and talk about in class and apply it in our house.

Most studios focus only karate skills and self defense. Side Kicks has been a better learning experience for our family. While we are all learning Karate and self defense, it is with a focus on leadership, self discipline, and confidence building. Brian and Nicole have been wonderful, being very friendly and helpful. It is definitely a membership worth having!

My son has been going here for over a year. I was skeptical at first as he attended the first few classes that were FREE as I watched. The kids were doing drills, sparring & they were very loud. This wasn't your typical cookie cutter karate kid class. Miss Nicole explained about the way this facility works. We signed him up because he was interested. After a few weeks I noticed how the martial arts side met with the life skills. The family here takes martial arts skills and blends them with life skills such as discipline, focus, respect, belief & having a great attitude. The positive growth that I have seen in my son and in each student in the class is amazing! My son has confidence in himself, he has respect for himself and others. He is a first time listener, he is more focused, he is determined when he starts something to finish it instead of giving up. He has a "yes I can" attitude and I can thank the Side Kicks Family for contributing to that. They care for your child, just as you would. They encourage their ninjas to be the best they can be in every situation. My son knows self defense and he knows the proper time is to use it. I am grateful that we took the chance on coming here as there are other martial arts places around our area. Side Kicks is a place that nurtures your child and helps them excell in all areas of life.

Program & Pricing FAQs

My child isn't athletic. Can he/she still participate in martial arts?

Absolutely. Martial arts teaches kids to be coordinated, flexible and strong. Kids who don't naturally have these qualities develop them. Kids who do have these qualities develop them even more.

Are these martial arts classes fun?

Yes! After all, these are children we're dealing with here. And kids love their fun. We do a variety of games and activities that have kids laughing and smiling. We work hard here - but we play just as hard.

What's a good age for a child to start martial arts?

Honestly, practically every age is a good age to start! We have young children, as well as teenagers. We also have specific programs for adults. So no matter what age - we've got you covered.

Can martial arts cause injury?

Because we place such a huge focus on safety and injury prevention, we're proud to say that injuries are very few and far between with our program. In fact, because martial arts gets you in great shape, and makes you strong and flexible, people often see LESS injuries in their lives.

Do you have to be in good shape to take martial arts?

Not at all! In fact, many people use martial arts as a way to get in good shape. They come to us out of shape, and quickly become athletic and limber.

Is martial arts violent?

No! Because self-defense technique is taught in martial arts, it's often thought of as violent. However, the philosophies behind martial arts revolve around peace and harmony. The moves are more of a way to become connected with your body. We teach diplomacy and friendship. However, if a violent situation ever arises in your life, you'll have powerful tools to defend yourself and your loved ones.
